James joined Smith Young in 2023 and is an equity partner with 20 years’ experience.

He started his career at CBRE’s London office in 2005 and moved to the Retail team just as the company acquired Dalgleish.  Having worked in Central London Retail for several years, James then moved to CBRE’s Manchester & Leeds offices.  His experience is diverse, and he has a proven track record for advising on and implementing leasing solutions for future performance. 

James has worked on some of the most prominent shopping centres in the UK, as well as transformational city centre retail developments in both London and the major regional cities.  He also advises retailers on acquisition/consolidation strategies throughout the UK.  His clients include British Land, Lululemon, Pradera Lateral and Queensberry.

Away from the office, James lives with his wife, daughter and son. He enjoys the outdoor life, especially family walks that occasionally cross paths with a beer garden.
